The story
The beginning – HitchFest
HitchFest was the only festival in Portugal, and one of the only ones in the world to be primarily dedicated to hitchhiking, and was based on bringing together travellers from all over the world. It had around 1000 visitors in its 1st edition!!
Continuation – HitchFest
After the success of the 1st edition, it came the 2nd, and again travellers from all over the world! This time around 2000 visitors were there!
The evolution – Festança
With a clear need to evolve, HitchFest gave place to Festança, which got also focused on the same principles, plus Permaculture and World Music as its main motto, with the aim of “creating roots” in travellers.
Consolidation – Festança
This is the year of even greater affirmation of Festança, which continues to focus more and more on its founding mottos, and with a permaculture design increasingly present in all areas of the festival grounds!
Festança WP Gathering
The growth of Festança has made it necessary to take more time to implement the next edition in 2025! The Festança WorldPackers Gathering made it possible to bring together 400 people in a single day to experience a little of what the 2025 edition will be like!
